Is that a picture of a stationary train with the smoke painted in afterwards?
I know shutter speeds were not up to much in the 1920's, but you would thing they’d have found a better artist.

the flying Scotsman is an amazing engine. truly a sight to behold. Sir Nigel Gresley knew his shit when he designed those A1 Peppercorns, amazing engines.
Although personally, I like the story of mallard's 130+mph run more.
